It has been a long week of free agency for the Philadelphia Eagles fan base with little good news, but a good update just came through for them.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles and tight end Dallas Goedert have agreed on a one-year deal for the veteran to return to Philly for his ninth season. No details on the dollar amount for his contract have been revealed at the time of his signing.

Goedert is coming off one of the best seasons of his career as he had a career-high in receptions (60) and touchdowns (11), with the scores being the most in Eagles franchise history.

Eagles re-signed Dallas Goedert for one more year

This is great new for the Eagles that have already lost key free agents like Jaelan Phillips, Nakobe Dean, Jahan Dotson, and Reed Blankenship.

Philly re-signed tight end Grant Calcaterra and signed former Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Johnny Mundt this past week. Goedert will go on as the favorite to be the starter with Calcaterra as his back, and Mundt being brought in for blocking on running plays.

Over the years, Goedert has been Jalen Hurts' third favorite target in the passing game behind DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown, so it was important to get one of their top receivers back on the team.

It's unclear what it means for the Eagles in the NFL Draft. They have been predicted to pick a tight end within the first three rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft. Goedert certainly complicates that plan a bit as the Eagles have four tight ends on their roster, including Calcaterra, Mundt, and Cameron Latu.
