The Philadelphia Eagles are trying to get something worked out with tight end Dallas Goedert to avoid him from hitting the free agent market.

First, the team moved his void date on his contract back to Friday. Then, The Athletic's Zach Berman reported that the Eagles once again moved the void date back to Monday.

Goedert had a solid bounce back season last year as he hit career-highs in receptions (60) and touchdowns (11). He added 591 receiving yards, averaging 9.8 yards per catch, the lowest of his NFL career.

Eagles looking to bring back Dallas Goedert with buying more time

The Eagles have already made two moves this offseason to bring in tight ends and add to a room that had only Cameron Latu on the active roster. Philly signed Johnny Mundt to a deal, while the Eagles also re-signed Grant Calcaterra to the team.

Goedert would be a much-needed piece to the Eagles' roster as they have lost nearly all their top free agents with Jaelan Phillips, Reed Blankenship, and Nakobe Dean. Even with Jahan Dotson gone, some questions remain about Jalen Hurts' pass targets entering the 2026 season.

Many thought the Eagles would let Goedert walk in free agency, but general manager Howie Roseman has made it known that he wants to try to bring him back. Adding Goedert back would give them their clear TE1 on the depth chart.

A new report about Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown now being attached to the Los Angeles Rams in a trade could actually impact Goedert's return. The Eagles are trying to figure out what to do with Goedert and Brown.

If the Eagles can't trade Brown away, they might have to let Goedert walk in free agency, as they can't afford him. Dealing Brown away could help bring Goedert back. Trading Brown now and losing $20 million might even negatively impact re-signing Goedert.

It's not clear what the Eagles are trying to do right now, but Goedert is still technically an Eagle until Monday, so there is time to make something happen and keep him on the team.
