It appears the Philadelphia Eagles might be dodging a bullet with right tackle Lane Johnson, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't think about the future.
People are starting to come out, like Adam Schefter and LeSean McCoy, who have indicated that Johnson is going to be back for another season at right tackle after rumors came out that he was thinking about retirement. Johnson is coming off a season where he played just 10 games and missed the last eight due to a foot injury.
NFL draft expert Daniel Jeremiah shared his new mock draft, as the offensive line is the focus for the Eagles in the first round. Jeremiah predicts the Eagles will select Clemson Tigers tackle Blake Miller to be the eventual successor to Johnson.
"Even if Lane Johnson decides to put off retirement, I believe the Eagles would not mind having his eventual replacement on the roster."
Blake Miller could be next in line to replace Lane Johnson
Johnson is a future Hall of Famer without any doubt, but over the years, he has started to get more banged up. While he hasn't missed many games, the injuries have started to pile up to the point that last year he missed nearly half the season because of his latest injury.
Miller is about as solid of a starter in college as they get as he was a third-team All-ACC selection in 2023, but got better with experience and time. He was a two-time first-team All-ACC selection in each of the last two years for the Tigers.
It would be the perfect situation for Miller as he can sit behind Johnson and learn from him for a year or two before taking over the right tackle position. He proved in college to have the perfect combination of run- and pass-blocking skills, showing promise for the future.

While there might be other urgent positions that need more attention, the future of the offensive line might be the most important, and Miller would fix that problem for the Eagles.
