Derrick Henry has a message for Saquon Barkley as rushing title race continues
Team goals are most important. The Philadelphia Eagles believe that. Coaches and players share the same theory as do media members and fans. But there's an individual component to playing competitive sports. Don't believe us? We can prove it to you.
We saw the Vince Lombardi Trophy raised to conclude 58 Super Bowls. The Philadelphia Eagles won the 52nd, yet only 378 members reside in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
No one believes those guys would ever dream of handing their gold jackets back. No one would anyone ask them to do so.
Derrick Henry's plea to Saquon Barkley... "Slow your (expletive) down!"
Two guys who are building strong cases for induction are enjoying a race for the NFL's rushing title. Baltimore Ravens star Derrick Henry and Philly's superman, Saquon Barkley.
Following a phenomenal effort by Saquon, one where he set franchise records, he's ahead of Henry by 67 rushing yards. Barkley has collected 1,392 so far this season while Derrick is on his heels with 1,325 big ones of his own.
Here's an interesting nugget. Henry has played 12 games vs. Barkley's 11 as the Baltimore Ravens haven't enjoyed their bye week yet.
These two share the field in Week 13 as the Eagles visit M&T Bank Stadium on December 1st at 4:25 pm EST. Before that one kicks off, Derrick has a message for the current rushing yards leader. He was asked about Saquon's season following Monday Night Football.
It's good to see those two are having fun. They won't share the field this coming Sunday, but we're all the beneficiaries.
Derrick gave Saquon a shoutout on X (Twitter) following Barkley's Herculean effort on Sunday Night Football. This should be a phenomenal duel between the game's best running backs once this one finally kicks off.
