Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith hosted his annual softball event, but everyone knew what was going to happen when he stepped up in front of microphones and cameras to answer questions.
Of course, the Philly sports media had to ask Smith about fellow wide receiver A.J. Brown, as the Eagles are reportedly one month away from trading him. Smith was asked about being the unquestioned number one receiver if Brown is traded, the former Heisman Trophy winner giving the answer Eagles fans knew he would.
“I got a job to do so I plan to go out there and do that," Smith said via The Athletic's Zach Berman.
DeVonta Smith is all business with Eagles going into 2026 season
It really is no surprise Smith is just sticking to what he knows to do best, and that's catching passes that come his way. He proved he could be a number one receiver last year when he led the Eagles in receiving yards for the first time since Brown joined the team with 1,008.
The questions about Brown did not end; another concerned the status of the receiver. Smith once again stuck to only answering about himself.
“I just go out there and do my job.”
Brown is expected to get traded after June 1, with the New England Patriots the most likely landing spot. That is all Brown's business, though, as Smith sticks to himself and does his job.
The great thing about Smith is that he has never been a distraction for the team. Never ever demanded the ball more in front of the media, as he always kept his head down and waited for his opportunity.

Eagles fans couldn't be happier that Smith will finally have the spotlight on him as the number one receiver he has earned. All these years of him not being selected to Pro Bowls should be over, as he appears to be ready to get his targets and dominate in this offense.
