The Philadelphia Eagles got soul-crushing news with defensive tackle Jalen Carter injured and out for the Week 14 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Carter had a procedure on both shoulders and is being classified as week-to-week. He is set to miss his third game of the season, with one being an ejection in Week 1 and an injury in Week 6, and will be replaced by emerging defensive tackle Moro Ojomo.
Stepping into the spotlight again for the Eagles, Ojomo is looking to make his mark on the defense. He knows his role will increase, but he is ready for it.
"It probably goes up maybe a little bit, but I think we have the greatest organization, and it'll help me be put in the best possible situation to handle that workload," Ojomo said.
There is confidence in Ojomo, as things are going to be different this time around for Philadelphia, with a plan being built around him and the defense.
"Yeah 100%. I think both times were kind of last second things. Now, we have more of a game plan, more of an idea going into it so more aware and ready for it."

Ojomo is ready for his moment to shine
Eagles fans shouldn't be too nervous about Ojomo stepping in for Carter, as not only has he done it multiple times this season, but he's playing like one of the best in the NFL. Ojomo has forced the Eagles to throw him in the rotation with Carter and Jordan Davis because of how good he has been.
The former 2023 seventh-round pick is already having a career year for the Eagles, racking up 28 tackles, 12 quarterback pressures, eight quarterback hits, four tackles for loss, four sacks, and one pass deflection in 12 games. Pro Football Focus has him graded as the 12th-best interior defensive lineman in the NFL among 129 qualified players, with a 75.3 grade.
With Ojomo and Davis having career seasons for the Eagles, there is still plenty of talent on the defensive line to hold on tight until Carter returns. Philly might need other players, like Byron Young and rookie Ty Robinson, to play bigger roles behind Ojomo and Davis.

Eagles fans knew Ojomo was going to break out in 2025 and be the sleeper gem they were hoping he would be. A dominant performance against the Chargers would cement that.
