It's easy to forget that the Philadelphia Eagles started the 2026 season out with a 2-0 record. The combination of a defensive regression, offensive line meltdown, and Jalen Hurts' concerning blood clots keeping him out of commission for the rest of the season has all mixed together to ruin proceedings.

This 2-5 start has illustrated that this team needs to completely remake their offensive line and secondary. Lane Johnson's sudden retirement certainly sped the process up, but the Eagles' need for a right tackle who can stabilize a group that is in transition. The secondary underperforming this season could leave room for one more difference-maker.

The Eagles may be able to bounce right back from their poor performance in 2026 if they lean on an NFL Draft strategy that is right in line with this 2027 NFL Mock Draft. In this exercise, the Eagles hit on all their major team needs while still hitting that intersection of adequate value.

Round 1, Pick 6: Trevor Goosby, OT, Texas

Goosby is out for the remainder of the year due to a knee injury, but he has put enough on tape to be picked in the top end of the first round. This is a two-tackle class, as Goosby and LSU's Jordan Seaton look like Top 10 picks, while there is no sure-fire first-rounder left on the board. If the Eagles want a true Lane Johnson replacement, he may be the man for the job.

Goosby has limitless athletic upside, which gives him a very high ceiling as a pass protector. Goosby may need to slide over to the right side, but he has the capability of eventually filling the same hole Johnson manned for decades.

Round 2, Pick 37: Kingston Lopa, S, Cal

It's very easy to get sold on a 6-5 safety who hits hard and has already picked up five interceptions this year. The Eagles may need to get a little bit lucky for him to fall, as he is competing with Notre Dame's Brauntae Johnson for the No. 2 safety spot behind Georgia's KJ Bolden. If he falls to the second round, Lopa almost makes too much sense for this defense.

He lacks great speed, and the Oregon transfer who followed Tosh Lupoi to Cal doesn't have a big sample size to go on, but his size and ball skills very rarely come together in one package, and the Eagles could take advantage.

Round 3, Pick 97: Evan Tengesdahl, IOL, Cincinnati

Almost overnight, the Eagles' offensive line went from perhaps the strength of the team to a major area of weakness that must be addressed with multiple NFL Draft picks. With Cam Jurgens traded and Landon Dickerson struggling to stay healthy, a player like Tengesdahl could provide depth in Year 1 before ascending to a starting role in 2028.

Tengesdahl was always a solid run-blocker, but the 320-pounder is showing more consistency when it comes to dealing with quick pass-rush moves. A year of seasoning as a backup could lead to him eventually starting.
