Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is making it very clear that he is not screwing around after Lane Johnson's retirement: the Eagles have traded Cam Jurgens.

In a stunning turn of events, the Eagles sent Jurgens and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens. Philly is getting a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick.

Jurgens was a two-time Pro Bowler for the Eagles and has recently struggled with a back injury that affected him last year. This season, he played center and left guard, but struggled, which led to him being placed in "concussion protocol," with many believing it was a soft benching. The Eagles make it clear, though, that Roseman is wheeling and dealing to get this team better.

Roseman is in rebuild mode right now, and the first thing he plans to fix is the offensive line. Jurgens needs to go first because he has struggled throughout this season and 2025. in

Pro Football Focus had Jurgens ranked the second-lowest among 74 NFL guards, with a 38.7. He allowed 12 pressures, one quarterback hit, and one sack in 146 pass-blocking snaps. Jurgens has also been called for four penalties.

To be fair to Jurgens, he was playing out of position for three games this season at left guard. With that being said, the regression has been noticeable over the last year, and this was probably a trade that needed to happen.

Roseman deserves a ton of credit for the trade, as he is getting great value for a player who has struggled. Earning a second-round pick in 2028 is incredible and will help this two-year rebuild.

What is next for Howie Roseman & the Eagles after Cam Jurgens Trade?

First, Drew Kendall has solidified the center position for now. Kendall will most likely start there for the rest of the year, unless Roseman has someone else in mind.

This season, Kendall hasn't been spectacular, but he's been solid and getting better throughout the past few weeks. He has allowed five pressures and one quarterback hit in 111 pass-blocking snaps.

With the center position figured out for now, Willie Lampkin holds strong at left guard until Landon Dickerson returns from IR. After this trade, though, Dickerson could be traded next if he doesn't play well on his return, so all options are on the table.

Roseman won't be done making trades, though. This is only the beginning of more moves. It will either be about collecting draft picks or picking up other players.

The Eagles currently have two first-round and two second-round picks in 2028, so they'll use those second-round picks somehow. They will either use them as ammunition for a big trade in the next year, or they'll use them to pick up players in that draft as part of the rebuild.

Regardless, the message has been sent to the rest of the team that no one is safe, and Roseman is ready to deal with anyone at any time.
