Eagles defense should be livid at offense for almost fumbling win over Bills away

They should be mad!!

The Philadelphia Eagles fan base can breathe after a thrilling 13-12 win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 17.

It wasn't always smooth for the Eagles; despite having a 13-0 lead halfway through the fourth quarter, the Bills stormed back with two touchdowns. A blocked extra point and a failed two-point conversion were the difference in the game as the Eagles got the win.

Philly's defense was the hero of the game, making big plays with two goal-line stops when they were needed. They shouldn't be happy about the offense failing them, though, in the worst way.

Eagles' offense looked horrible and the defense shouldn't be happy about it

The most eye-popping stat of the game is that the offense had 16 total yards on 18 plays in the second half. That is where the Eagles failed the most, as the defense shut out the Bills for three and a half quarters.

There will be questions about whether the Eagles' offense took their foot off the pedal in the second half. Of course, expect head coach Nick Sirianni to say that they didn't, but it doesn't show on the field.

For the second time this season, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts did not complete a single pass in the second half. Crazy enough, Philly is 2-0 this season when it happens.

The Eagles' defense might have struggled with allowing two straight scoring drives at the end, but they played well overall. They sacked Josh Allen five times, James Cook averaged just 3.7 yards per carry, and they only allowed six of 15 third downs to be converted.

There is a lot to be desired with the end of the game, as the Eagles' defense has done this too many times this season, but they still put the team in a position to win. Philly's offense folded in the second half, as it always does.

A lot of the blame has to be put on offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo for his play-calling (when have Eagles fans heard that one after a game?). Patullo continues to struggle with consistent play calls and when he should run the ball more on first and second down when it is raining outdoors.

The Eagles' offense again failed the defense with a horrendous 190 yards of total offense. There's no way the defense should be happy with them, as they need more help with that.
