Eagles fans better hope what Kevin Patullo just said about A.J. Brown is true

Philadelphia's OC doesn't seem too concerned about the drama unfolding in his neck of the woods.

When Kevin Patullo took over as the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles following Kellen Moore's departure, fans expected things to remain more or less the same. After all, each of the Eagles' key pieces from last year's offense remained in Philadelphia, other than Mekhi Becton.

However, through nine games of the 2025 NFL season, things just haven't looked right for the Eagles. While they're averaging just 3.0 fewer points per game and Devonta Smith is in line for a career year, Saquon Barkley is barely on pace for 1,000 yards, and A.J. Brown has largely been a shell of himself.

The problem with Brown has been inconsistent usage, and after a two-catch performance in Week 10, he has had no quarrels about airing out his grievances. He went so far as to call his current situation a "(expletive) show," which caused a media tsunami in Philadelphia.

Eagles fans are clinging to Kevin Patullo's A.J. Brown comments

But, despite the offense being a relative disappointment this season and Brown's flurry of frustrating comments this week, Patullo spoke to the media on Thursday and assured reporters that nothing has changed with him and Brown.

"All the way back to '22, we've had a really strong relationship. Even throughout the year, him and I have had great talks. Even today, yesterday. There's nothing changed in our relationship," Patullo said. "He's in my office a ton, hanging out, talking about football, talking about life, talking about things and what we can do differently, what we're doing currently. From that standpoint, nothing really changes. He knows how I feel about him and where we wanna go and what we're trying to do. Obviously, he's a main part in this offense, and when we game plan, we always want to look to 11, 26, 6 and 88, and that's where the ball needs to go.

Eagles fans are certainly hoping this is true. It doesn't take more than just a few cracks for the entire foundation of an offense to crumble, and if arguably the group's best player is unhappy, things could go sideways in a hurry.

As a former wide receivers coach and a passing game coordinator, it's a wonder how Patullo hasn't been able to scheme up looks for Brown this season. While Patullo has taken a lot of flak, quarterback Jalen Hurts certainly deserves his share of the blame, too.

Brown is not exempt from criticism either, as fans have been quick to point out plays where they feel that he isn't giving it his all. However, Patullo says that nothing has changed in their relationship, and Brown is acting like the same person he has always been, so Eagles fans have no choice but to believe this.

It will be interesting to see how things play out on Sunday Night Football in Week 11, as the always tough Detroit Lions will travel to the Linc for a primetime matchup. Eagles fans, however, know that if Brown doesn't become more involved, Patullo's recent statement might not hold true for long.
