After the long Labor Day weekend break, the Philadelphia Eagles are finally back on the practice field as they prepare for their Week 1 game against the Washington Commanders.
The Eagles face so many uncertainties as the fan base waits to see what kind of team they will be. This franchise has made the postseason every year since head coach Nick Sirianni got the job in 2021. That doesn't mean the team hasn't had its ups and downs.
This offseason brought a lot of changes to the team, and it took all of training camp to get some of it figured out. Here are a few things Eagles fans need to see in practice to feel good about the team's preparation for the Commanders game.
What Eagles fans need to see in practice this week before Commanders game?
Better reports on Eagles' offense performing well
As training camp got rolling, the Eagles' offense under new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion looked better and better. The unit saw quarterback Jalen Hurts get into rhythm with his new targets, Dontayvion Wicks and Elijah Moore, often, while the running backs also got heavily involved in the passing game. This needs to be the week where the Eagles' offense outperforms the defense with ease to make fans feel good about how they will look.
Jonathan Greenard needs to be in practice working out with the team
Greenard was included on the 53-man roster and wasn't on any PUP list or IR. That's usually a good indication that he will at least be practicing, but Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has not been 100% sure that his top edge rusher will even play in the game. Eagles fans would love to see the team's $100 million investment working out and on pace to play against the Commanders.
Riq Woolen having a good week of work for the Eagles
The Commanders have some pretty good wide receivers there in Washington, including Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs. Quinyon Mitchell will likely cover McLaurin all game, leaving Woolen to cover Diggs. It'll be a good challenge for Woolen, who needs to make a strong first impression on the Eagles fan base after struggling with Adoree' Jackson and Kelee Ringo at CB2 all of last season.

Jalen Hurts throwing less interceptions and more touchdowns
Over the past month, too many practice reports have included Hurts throwing multiple interceptions in one session. That needs to change in practice this week, since he got a pass in training camp; it's too early to panic, and he is learning Mannion's offense. In practices during the week, Hurts needs to be more on point with his passes and have a much better feel for the offensive scheme, with better decision-making.
