The Philadelphia Eagles returned to Lincoln Financial Field for the first time since the 2025 season, when over 45,000 fans packed the stadium to watch a simple practice.
This time around, it's different, as the fans witnessed a different football team on the field. Most attention focused on the offense to see how it would look in a completely new scheme run by new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion.
There were some big winners from the open practice, but it also did present one concern that no one wants to overreact to, but it is somethingpresented to monitor. Here are some key players from the open practice to talk about.
Biggest winners and one concern from Eagles' open practice
Winner: DeVonta Smith, WR
Smith appears to be almost all the way back. Sure, it wasn't a perfect practice with a drop and one pass that was underthrown to him, but he beat Riq Woolen on a pass and caught a contested pass on Quinyon Mitchell. Jalen Hurts has his number one receiver back, and it's making a difference in the offense.
Winner: Makai Lemon, WR
Lemon is back from his hamstring injury, and for the first time all summer, he found the end zone. He ran a wheel route out of the backfield and was left uncovered for the easiest touchdown of the practice. This is just a sample size of what Lemon could bring to the table in 2026.
Winner: Saquon Barkley, RB
Barkley's vision seems to be improving, and he's having more of an impact in the passing game. He caught a wheel route out of the backfield with Zack Baun in coverage for a touchdown. This is starting to look a lot like the old Barkley from 2024.
Winner: Jalyx Hunt, EDGE
Pretty typical practice for Hunt to have multiple pressures on Hurts and force him out of the pocket. He has by far been the best pass rusher on this Eagles team in training camp. The breakout season cannot come any sooner for him.
Winner: Riq Woolen, CB
The inconsistent summer continues for Woolen, but he had a great practice for the Eagles. He picked off Hurts twice, including one taken back for a touchdown. If he can find a way to be consistent this season, he might be the CB2 Eagles fans have waited two years for.

Concern: Jalen Hurts, QB
No, we're not trying to overreact to his two interceptions badly, but after 16 practices in training camp, Hurts has thrown 13 interceptions. This is the best time for him to experiment and try different throws, so that's okay, and he threw three touchdowns in the practice, which is another positive. What is concerning is that he only threw 15 interceptions in the previous four training camps combined. Either Hurts has to get things cleaned up, or Eagles fans should expect a lot of interceptions in 2026.
