Despite a hot start for Jake Elliott to begin the 2025 season, the last several weeks for him have put the Eagles' long-time kicker in a rough spot regarding his future in Philadelphia.
After starting the season six for six, including three for three from beyond 50 yards, Elliott has gone six for 11 in his last five games, including missing an extra point. What's even worse is that Elliott's Field Goal percentage now sits at 70.8%, which is the third worst in the league, ahead of Younghoe Koo (now released), and Joshua Karty (replaced and demoted to the Rams practice squad).
With the recent shortcomings, it shouldn't be a surprise if Elliott is moved on from just one year into his four-year contract extension that expires in 2028. Below are five kickers that Eagles fans would rather see kicking on Sunday than Elliott.
Rodrigo Blankenship
Blankenship found his groove after struggling with the Colts in 2021 and 2022 due to injury. Blankenship would spend 2025 in the United Football League with the St. Louis Battlehawks, going 21 of 22 with a long of 56, enroute to an All-UFL season.
Blankenship has worked out for several NFL teams this season; however, has yet to be signed. With kickers like Harrison Mevis, Brandon Aubrey, and Jake Bates having success in their spring football in the NFL pipeline, giving Blankenship a chance may not be such a bad idea.
Younghoe Koo
Koo looks like he's at the end of his tenure as a consistent kicker, but at this point, bringing in some competition may be what's needed in Philadelphia. Koo, from 2019 to 2023, was one of the NFL's best kickers and has seen a recent drop-off that has essentially ruined any chance of a long-term deal again. In the NFL, plenty of kickers have rebounded when given another opportunity; maybe Koo can be that with the Eagles.
Justin Tucker
Maybe Tucker could have a career reinvention coming off his suspension. While he dropped off in 2024, he's still put together 13 seasons of consistency as one of the NFL's best kickers in league history. Tucker has worked out for several NFL teams in the past month, and like Koo, could rebound like so many NFL kickers have once they have a new place to work.
Riley Patterson
Patterson has had a resurgence in 2025, going 24 of 26, solidifying his spot as one of the NFL's best 32 kickers. On a one-year contract, Patterson may demand a payday this off-season, which could "price him out" of Philadelphia; however, it is worth kicking the tires on his availability in 2026.
An undrafted free agent of the 2026 Class
Kickers are often a diamond in the rough, and maybe some fresh blood in 2026 is what's needed. Every year, several undrafted free agents join the NFL ranks as specialists and often transition into great careers. At a cheaper price tag, having a 2026 undrafted free agent to compete with Elliott may be the most realistic move next season for the fiscally responsible Eagles.

With Elliott putting together a zero-for-two performance against the Washington Commanders, Elliott is undoubtedly on the hot seat. As the Eagles look to improve, retool, and enhance all phases of their roster this offseason, expect the coaching staff and front office to analyze Elliott's future with the team despite his current contract.
