Eagles holding onto 4 quarterbacks for Week 4 Rams game is pure insanity

Like, what are we actually doing here?

Every Philadelphia Eagles fan is heading into this Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Rams with the same question: Why in the world are we carrying four quarterbacks, given the issues we have with the roster?

This is being asked because the Eagles will be a bit shorthanded in the Rams game due to their injuries. Philly has six key players hurt and ruled out for the game.

  • Zack Baun, LB (concussion)
  • Hollywood Brown, WR (ankle)
  • Marcus Epps, S (groin)
  • Dallas Goedert, TE (knee)
  • Fred Johnson, OT (knee)
  • DeVonta Smith, WR (hamstring)

Here's the problem: the Eagles will have only three safeties and three linebackers active in this game. So, Philly will have not only four quarterbacks but also four tight ends, with Zach Ertz and Josiah Deguara elevated to the 53-man roster.

Eagles' handling of the QB situation and roster management is wild

So, the Eagles will be forced to play Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and Jihaad Campbell at inside linebacker for the whole game, while also probably forcing Trotter to help on special teams since they are shorthanded. Smael Mondon Jr. most likely takes up more responsibility on special teams, but Trotter might have to still help on that side of the ball.

At safety, the team will have to put its faith in Michael Carter II to replace Epps. Backing up Carter and Andrew Mukuba is Kenny Moore, who will be active for the first time this season and is two weeks into learning the safety position. That should go well (said sarcastically).

But no, the Eagles really feel the need to carry four quarterbacks because we can always use that many on the roster. We are going to use all of them, right?

How did that work out in the 27-7 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 3? The guy no Eagles fan wanted on the roster in the beginning ended up throwing a horrendous interception in the end zone when they were inside the five-yard line on third-and-goal. We are looking at you, Andy Dalton.

The Eagles gain little value from having four quarterbacks on the team when Dalton, Tanner McKee, and Cole Payton are mostly just sitting there. This team really needs help at linebacker and safety because of the injuries, but we're going to make sure we are stacked at quarterback instead.

Eagles fans love general manager Howie Roseman, and he's made some genius decisions, but 2026 is starting to look like Philly is stacking up on one odd decision after another. Why do we have four quarterbacks and tight ends each when linebacker and safety are just depleted, with no help at all? Please make it make sense, because it sure doesn't right now.

With how this season has gone with injuries, this quarterback decision is eventually going to backfire in some way, and the Eagles are going to feel the pain. This is just an annoying thing to have over the fan base's head entering a game where they really need a win to regain momentum.
