When Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman sees a perfect opportunity, he doesn't care what time it happens, as he will get it done even if that deal comes at the expense of one of his players.

Late Monday night, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the Eagles traded defensive tackle Thomas Booker IV to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for cornerback Jakorian Bennett. It's a win-win trade for the Eagles, as the team gets rid of Booker when he was unlikely to make the roster, while also helping to improve a secondary with some questions.

So, which player on the current Eagles roster will be the one most affected by the move? Well, it could very well be Parry Nickerson.

Bennett could have just stolen a roster spot right from underneath Nickerson

It's easy to see why Roseman was excited to acquire a player like Bennett. At age 24, Bennett is entering his third season in the NFL after 58 tackles and 11 pass deflections in 24 career games. His 52.3% completion percentage allowed and 67.7 passer rating allowed last year is about as impressive as it gets.

Nickerson was hoping to steal the final roster spot for the Eagles after spending the second half of the 2024 season on their practice squad. He does have NFL experience, having played 30 games since 2018, but 16 of those games were played in his rookie year.

The secondary is already so heavily crowded that it might even be a challenge for Bennett to make the final 53-man roster. In the latest unofficial Eagles depth chart, Nickerson was listed as the third-string cornerback behind Adoree' Jackson and Kelee Ringo, who are both battling for a starting job.

This preseason might be more about Nickerson auditioning for other NFL teams and hoping to get signed by one of them. Things got extremely more difficult for Nickerson with Bennett coming in and most likely taking his spot.
