The Philadelphia Eagles released their second injury report for Week 14, and there seems to be some concern about the defense, even if most of the starters play.

Philly had the usual suspects this week: not practicing were defensive tackle Jalen Carter (shoulders) and right tackle Lane Johnson (foot), who are not expected to play. A new addition, though, was left guard Landon Dickerson getting a rest day, with Brett Toth covering for him for practice.

Three players were listed as limited in practice:

  • Zack Baun, LB (Hand)
  • Jahan Dotson, WR (Toe)
  • Jaelan Phillips, EDGE (Concussion)

The Eagles had three more players that were listed as full participants at practice:

  • Marcus Epps, S (Shoulder)
  • Xavier Gipson, WR (Shoulder)
  • Myles Hinton, OL (Back)

Philly has some injuries on defense that are becoming a bit alarming

The fact that Baun and Phillips are both practicing is a good thing, but they have been limited in practice, which is a clear indication that they are not 100%. While it appears they will play in Week 14 against the Los Angeles Chargers, it still leaves some wondering how effective they will be before their injuries worsen.

Some wonder whether Dickerson getting rest days now will be a problem. With all the injuries he has had this season, it's a smart move by the organization to get him some rest, as many teams are starting to do that this time of the year to protect their players.

Epps is showing good progress, though, as Eagles fans are praying he might be able to play. Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio mentioned earlier in the week that Epps has a shot not only to play, but also to start at safety in place of Sydney Brown.

Gipson is still recovering from the vicious hit he took on the punt return he fumbled on in the 24-21 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Britain Covey has been replacing him, and Eagles fans trust him a bit more, so the Eagles might not rush him back on the field.

The final injury report will be very telling about what will happen with players of focus like Baun, Phillips, and Epps. Eagles fans are hoping Baun and Phillips will be full participants in the last practice, and that Epps can be activated from the IR.
