Philadelphia Eagles fans might have to accept the fact that cornerback Darius Slay may never return to Philly ever again.

The endless saga of Slay and the Buffalo Bills continues, as a source tells NFL insider Ian Rapoport that the Bills are placing him on the reserve/did not report list after Slay informed them that he is not coming to Buffalo and is considering retirement. Buffalo claimed Slay off waivers after he and the Pittsburgh Steelers mutually agreed to part ways.

Philly also put in a claim for Slay, as there was reportedly mutual interest from both sides for a possible reunion. While speaking to Emmanuel Acho on the Speakeasy show, Slay said he was not joining the Bills because he did not want to move his family again or because he wanted to play in Buffalo's cold weather.

Bills feel like they are doing this on purpose now to Eagles

Buffalo appears to be taking an interesting route with the Slay situation, as despite his saying he doesn't want to play there, they want to hold on to him. It almost feels like they are trying to prevent him from playing in the Week 17 showdown against the Eagles.

Philly would love a reunion with Slay after he made three Pro Bowls in his five seasons with the Birds. Originally a roster casualty to the Howie Roseman youth movement, the Eagles have paid the price with inconsistent play from Adoree' Jackson and Kelee Ringo at CB2.

The Eagles were hoping to bring in Slay to potentially start in the place that Jaire Alexander was supposed to at CB2 when they traded for him before he himself retired. Now, that dream appears to be dashed.

This is a risky move for Buffalo, as Slay is represented by long-time NFL agent Drew Rosenhaus, who represents many players in the league. Making a wrong move with him could be trouble for the Bills to bring in any of his clients in the future.

It's only been a few days, and so much has already happened, so there doesn't seem to be any ending to the Slay saga yet.
