Welp, never mind Philadelphia Eagles fans. There won't be any Darius Slay reunion happening.

Sources told ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter that Slay was claimed off waivers by the Buffalo Bills. The Pittsburgh Steelers just released Slay after playing about half the season for them. After being a healthy scratch in the Steelers' Week 13 matchup against, ironically, the Bills, the two sides decided to part ways.

There was reported interest between Slay and the Eagles to have a potential reunion. Now it has become Slay lining up on the opposite side of Philly in Week 17 when the Eagles and the Bills face off.

Eagles now will face off against Slay late in the season

Slay played for the Eagles over the last five years and was named to the Pro Bowl three times from 2021 through 2023. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman decided to part ways with Slay during the offseason as the team focused on getting younger.

Many Eagles fans were interested in seeing Slay come back to Philly, especially since the team has had so many issues at CB2 this season. Adoree' Jackson and Kelee Ringo struggled for most of the season, and the Eagles traded for Jaire Alexander to potentially fill in, but he never played a down for the team.

It has been considered a down season for Slay with the Steelers, with only three pass deflections and zero interceptions in nine games. The Steelers fan base had been sensing that a breakup was on the way, with Slay losing playing time.

The Eagles look to be stuck with Jackson at CB2 for the time being, with fans hoping that he can hold up. Slay's play last year compared to Jackson's performance in 2025 has not nearly matched, which is what made the thought of a reunion interesting.

Slay can now look at the Week 17 game as a revenge game for him, as he'll face off against his old team.
