Though it's a demolition derby, football has poetic elements to it. Sometimes, things happen that seem fit for made-for-TV movies. Sydney Brown enjoyed a respectable season as a Philadelphia Eagles rookie, but things ended abruptly, with a season-ending ACL tear in Week 18 last January.

Brown's rehab has seemingly been ahead of schedule since it began. Philly's 2024-25 season began with him on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. Kickoff of Week 7's game approaches, and his second season is set to begin where his first ended.

Sydney Brown's return highlights to Eagles Week 7 roster moves.

The Eagles have announced some last-minute roster shuffling. Sydney Brown is again on the active roster. Practice windows were opened for him and wide receiver Ainias Smith on October 7th. It's good to see Sydney is back as C.J. Gardner-Johnson has, shall we say, struggled since returning.

Philly has also announced they are elevating offensive lineman Jack Driscoll from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday's game versus the New York Giants. That also makes sense.

Jordan Mailata, since Friday, is now on Philadelphia's injured reserve. Driscoll being on the roster gives the Birds some insurance just in case there are any unforeseen injuries.

Philly, the media, and their fans are all aware of what Brown and Driscoll can add. The former's first season was highlighted by a 99-yard interception for a return versus the Arizona Cardinals on New Year's Eve. Unfortunately, Philadelphia lost that game. Had they not, we'd remember it more fondly.

That's okay because we have seen enough to recognize there's something special there. He appeared in 14 games with six starts in year one with the Birds. That resulted in 45 tackles, three pass breakups, and forced fumble, and the aforementioned pick-six.

Driscoll joined the Eagles as a fourth-round draft choice in 2020. He spent the first four seasons of his career in the City of Brotherly Love before landing in Miami with the Dolphins on March 18th. They released him on August 28, but Philly brought him back on September 4th as a member of their practice squad.

In total, he has appeared in 55 games with the Birds. That includes 17 starts. Don't expect to see him much in Week 7 though. As stated, he's an insurance addition.
