Call me a creature of habit. The typical workday often looks similar to others that fell a day or so earlier if done remotely. There are about five TVs running. The day's 94 WIP-FM broadcast is airing in the background. There is a constant search for anything mentioning the Philadelphia Eagles.
Bad stretches of baseball offered by The Fightins has led to some early frustration. That, however, has been eased by an approaching NFL Draft to discuss. Green Bay, Wisconsin will provide the backdrop, and as always, we expect fireworks.
Everything is seemingly on the table: a possible Dallas Goedert trade, a first-round surprise, or maybe another aggressive move by Howie Roseman. Who knows? Maybe, we'll see all three. Wouldn't you know it? Our favorite sports station is stirring the pot.
Eagles news: A.J. Brown is the subject of an on-air trade discussion.
How's this for a recipe? A dash of A.J. Brown... A pinch of Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter being expected top-five draft choices. Throw in a touch of Joe Giglio and the Midday Show, and simmer to a boil.
Joe says he'd use A.J. for collateral in an attempt to trade up for Carter or Hunter... Oh boy!
If you don't listen to The Midday Show as often as the rest of us, these types of discussions happen often. We like Joe and all, but we disagree vehemently. Thank goodness for Ike Reese and some clarity. He offered the following theory.
A.J. must have heard some of the discussion. We know he listens to the broadcasts from time to time. Might we assume his late April Fools' Day joke came in response to what was being said?
We repeat. We're all in on our theory that A.J. should stay. The idea is to field the best team possible, right?
More Eagles news: Can Howie Roseman continue his streak of phenomenal Round 2 draft picks?
We end this on a high note, with a discussion about Howie Roseman's brilliance. Philly currently owns the 32nd selection in Round 1, and even though we oppose any ideas of losing A.J., we aren't ruling out the possibility of seeing Philly's GM barter a few picks so he can trade up if necessary.
They say Round 1 selections are expected to step in and be factors for a while. They also say Day 2 is where an NFL team finds the meat of its roster.
Don't you worry. Howie has been on fire as of late.
In addition to finding four eventual Pro Bowlers in four consecutive NFL Drafts (Miles Sanders, Jalen Hurts, Landon Dickerson, and Cam Jurgens), Howie landed Dallas Goedert in 2018 and Cooper DeJean in 2024. We can safely say Philly's GM has been cooking as of late, and we expect the continued excellence to extend into the coming selection meeting.
We can't wait to see who is added to the Eagles nest and family.
