The Philadelphia Eagles face a major challenge as they take on the Los Angeles Rams in Week 4.

It's been a week filled with injury news and heartbreak after the 27-7 blowout loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 3. Philly has been focused on moving on from that game and trying to get another win against a Rams team that Nick Sirianni is actually 4-0 against in his coaching career.

Some big news stories came out over the last few days for the Eagles. Here's a look at the biggest stories Eagles fans might already know or may have missed.

  1. 6 Eagles out for Week 4 against the Rams
  2. DeVonta Smith could be out multiple weeks with hamstring injury
  3. Jalen Carter playing with fractured wrist
  4. Chance Campbell placed on IR and replaced on practice squad
  5. Sean Mannion (still) won't stop running screen passes with Eagles

6 Eagles out for Week 4 against the Rams

The final Eagles injury report came out, and it was bad news for the franchise. Six total players were listed as out for the Rams game:

  • Zack Baun, LB (concussion)
  • Hollywood Brown, WR (ankle)
  • Marcus Epps, S (groin)
  • Dallas Goedert, TE (knee)
  • Fred Johnson, OT (knee)
  • DeVonta Smith, WR (hamstring)

Baun and Smith are the biggest names on the list, but losing four starters is tough news for the Eagles. That kind of news can mean a lot—that kind of news.

Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and Michael Carter II are the most logical choices to replace Baun and Epps in the starting defensive lineup. Zach Ertz and Dontayvion Wicks move up as the top options at tight end and Wide Receiver.

DeVonta Smith could be out multiple weeks with hamstring injury

PHLY's Bo Wulf didn't add much good news for Smith missing his first game of the 2026 season, as it might be worse than that. Wulf heard that it could actually be a two-to-three-week miss with the hamstring injury.

Smith leads the Eagles in receiving with 19 receptions for 235 yards and one touchdown. Wicks, Makai Lemon, and Darius Cooper will be the top receivers, with Smith and Brown both not playing.

Jalen Carter playing with fractured wrist

Carter is proving his toughness with the Eagles, as The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane reports that he has been playing with a hairline fracture in his wrist. Throughout the last two games, Carter has played in a cast and has told reporters he will continue to play in it over the next few weeks.

Since the injury, Carter has kept practicing and playing through it. His snap count has dropped, but he has still earned more snaps than any other defensive tackle on the team. No one can question his toughness, but a bigger question is whether it is worth it for him to keep playing on it if it could get worse.

Chance Campbell placed on IR and replaced on practice squad

More bad news on the injury front: Eagles' training camp standout Chance Campbell was placed on the practice squad IR. Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio was highly complimentary of Campbell in training camp for how good he is, but he needed to stay healthy.

The Eagles added linebacker Anfernee Orji to the practice squad to replace Campbell. Orji is best known for his time with the New Orleans Saints, where he recorded 30 tackles, but he was in training camp with the New York Giants in August.

Sean Mannion (still) won't stop running screen passes with Eagles

A big criticism of the Eagles' offensive coordinator, Sean Mannion, is his use of screen passes, especially with Lemon. The Eagles have not had a single positive play from Lemon running the screen pass.

Mannion talked about using it in the offense during his press conference. He made it clear that they need to be better at it, but he won't abandon it completely.

"Ultimately, we’ve got to be better in the screen game," Mannion said via The Athletic's Zach Berman. "That starts with me. I think we look at all facets of our offense, and we want to make everything about it as good as it can possibly be. There’s things to clean up there.

"There's things that we're looking at that we can do different schematically to improve in that regard. Certainly, the screen game, we want to get more out of it. We're working every day to get more out of it. Ultimately, it's my responsibility to get that going in the right direction. We're constantly looking at how we can make corrections and evolve and see how we can be the best team that we can be moving forward."
