It was yet another long week for the Philadelphia Eagles in the news department, as they prepare for their Week 7 Monday Night Football showdown against the Dallas Cowboys.

Earlier in the week, there was good news that running back Saquon Barkley was tracking to return against the Cowboys for the first time in two games. Since then, though, the injury front has not been good for the Eagles.

With injuries and depth affecting the team, the Eagles did a lot of work to the roster and are making adjustments to the potential changes. Here's a look at some of the biggest news stories on the Eagles over the last few days.

  1. Top three Eagles pass catches not practicing due to injuries
  2. Injury bug hits edge rusher room with both starters not practicing as well
  3. Saquon Barkley talks potential return to Eagles in Week 7
  4. Evan Neal one of three Eagles signed, E.J. Jenkins waived
  5. Eagles work out another offensive lineman, Evan Beerntsen

Injuries continue to destroy this franchise in so many different ways. Eagles fans got good news about Barkley, but of course, when one superstar returns, it puts three other key offensive starters in jeopardy.

In the first two practices, the Eagles did not have DeVonta Smith (hamstring), Dontayvion Wicks (ankle), or Dallas Goedert (knee) working out. This is usually a bad sign that they may not play.

While everyone can be happy to have their top rusher back, potentially not having the top three receivers is worse. That would leave Makai Lemon, Darius Cooper, and Johnny Mundt as the replacements. They may not be bad, but it is not an ideal starting lineup.

Jonathan Greenard (ankle) suffered a major setback and did not practice with the Eagles on Friday. This season, Greenard hasn't stayed healthy and couldn't make his fourth game.

Nolan Smith is still in concussion protocol from his Week 6 injury against the Carolina Panthers. Smith could still be cleared before the game, but things don't look great right now.

Saquon Barkley talks potential return to Eagles in Week 7

Barkley has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury; these are the first two games he has missed since joining the Eagles in 2024. The good news is that he has been practicing in limited sessions this week and is still on track to play against the Cowboys.

This was the first time in over two weeks that Barkley spoke with the media. He discussed the struggles of dealing with his hamstring injury and his potential return to the field.

"Monday's still a long ways away, just going to listen and trust the trainers...and hopefully continue to get better each day," Barkley said via The Athletic's Zach Berman.

The Eagles made several roster moves to bring in talent. Their biggest name is offensive lineman Evan Neal, who was a former first-round pick of the New York Giants and a starter from 2022 through 2024. They also signed running back Jaydon Blue and linebacker Anfernee Orji to the practice squad.

As part of those moves, the team waived tight end E.J. Jenkins. Jenkins was on the active roster all season, but primarily played on special teams.

The Eagles were not done adding potential offensive linemen to the team, as they worked out Evan Beerntsen. Before his workout, the Baltimore Ravens drafted Beerntsen in the seventh round, and the Seattle Seahawks just cut him from the practice squad this week.
