A lot has been discussed regarding the glaring roster flaw that is at CB2 for the Philadelphia Eagles.
In last week's 24-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys, Eagles cornerback Adoree' Jackson struggled mightily, allowing five catches for over 100 yards, and all five receptions went for first downs. While Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has stated that Jackson is the starting CB2 for Sunday's matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, general manager Howie Roseman seems to be looking for other solutions.
The biggest eye opener for that was the Eagles bringing in former Cincinnati Bengals corner Mike Hilton for a workout. While Hilton would make a good addition to the team, he's more of a nickel corner, and the Eagles would prefer not to move DeJean on the outside.
There is a solution that the Eagles would have a younger, cheaper, and more decorated defender to join the secondary.
Cleveland Browns have an awesome option that could become available at the right price
247Sports reporter Jack Duffin shared on Tuesday that the team has restructured cornerback Denzel Ward's contract. They have converted his $13.5 million base salary into a bonus for the 2025 season.
Why this is important is that Ward's base salary has become $1.2 million for the 2025 season. It also frees up over $18 million on salary cap room for the Browns.
Ward is a four-time Pro Bowler who led the NFL last year with 19 pass deflections. He has racked up 96 pass deflections and 17 interceptions in his eight NFL seasons in Cleveland.
At 28 years old, Ward just became the best option for the Eagles to go after in a trade. With how young he is and a contract-friendly deal in 2025, it's a no-brainer for Roseman to call Cleveland to see how much it would cost to trade for him.
The Eagles have three third-round picks coming up in the 2026 NFL Draft. For the price of a back-to-back Pro Bowler, one or two of those will have to go. Roseman would have to ask himself if a first or second-round pick would be worth it for Ward. That might be too steep a price for an eight-year veteran.
One other element of the deal would be how the Eagles would handle Ward's contract after 2025. His cap hit will be between $29 million and $32 million in each of the next two seasons.

If Roseman is serious about winning another Super Bowl in 2025, this becomes the best option for the Eagles 2025 to make a run for it. Ward is one of the best coverage corners in the NFL and should be discussed in being in the midnight green uniforms by the middle of the season.
