Vic Fangio's begrudged three-word response to Adoree' Jackson's starting spot

Short and telling.

It's no secret that Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio didn't exactly jump up and down for joy when general manager Howie Roseman signed cornerback Adoree' Jackson in the offseason.

Fangio admitted it back in the summer when he shared it was Roseman who wanted to sign him. The former Denver Broncos head coach even challenged Jackson to prove others wrong as to why the Titans and Giants didn't re-sign him in the past.

Jackson had a change to silence the doubters against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. Those doubters got their hands on a microphone with a volume turned up to share their disapproval of his performance.

Despite the Eagles' 24-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys, Jackson struggled mightily against the Cowboys' receivers. The defensive back gave himself a "C" grade for his performance.

Not sure many would agree. They might think it's lower, but the only opinion that matters is Fangio as he gets final say in whether he keeps the starting job or not.

During Tuesday's media availability, Fangio was asked about whether Jackson was going to start. He just needed three words, and it may not be the words he wants to use.

"Right now, yes."

Fangio went on to discuss Jackson's performance against the Cowboys and why he struggled. For Fangio, it all came down to his technique as he didn't do a good enough job of covering up the Cowboys' receivers throughout the contest.

Jackson finished the game second on the team in tackles with seven and five of those were solo. He added a pass deflection as well. When all was said and done, Jackson was targeted seven time with five receptions for 103 yards and all five catches went for first downs.

His performance caused the Eagles to look into adding another cornerback, with former Cincinnati Bengal Mike Hilton coming in for a workout on Monday. No signing has occurred, but it's a clear message that the Eagles are thinking about it.

It wasn't a good day at the office for Jackson, but the good news is that he's got another shot at turning in a much better performance against the Chiefs. Can he step up to the plate and get it done?
