Eagles star Saquon Barkley unsurprisingly earns his trophy at NFL Honors Show

After months of speculation, Saquon Barkley's award-winning night plays out as we expected.

Saquon Barkley... If you're looking for good football conversation or a hot take, you won't have to do much to get one started if he's involved. Just write your lead, mention his name, and construct a clever closing statement. Saquon's stories kind of write themselves now that he's a member of the Philadelphia Eagles organization.

Be careful though. It's easy to feel as though you have been cheated as a football fan. We've all asked the questions. If the New York Giants couldn't help him to his fullest potential, why didn't they just do the right thing and give him to Philly a while ago?

Look at how a phenomenal talent was wasted as part of a second-class organization! Oh well... That's water under the bridge. There's no use in crying over spilled milk.

Saquon Barkley is, as expected, screwed out of the MVP trophy as he takes home the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year Award.

The NFL Honors, as always, delivered the goods. This year's version wasn't their best offering. Snoop Dog was the host. He was... okay... Our attention, however, was fixated on several categories where Eagles were nominees.

Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean were Defensive Rookie of the Year finalists. They were ignored as the trophy went to Jared Verse. Zack Baun was a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year (but also wasn't given the honor).

Vic Fangio was snubbed before the award show even began. During the red carpet broadcast, we learned former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson had won that award. Eric Allen was a finalist for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Finally, he got in.

And, frankly, that one moved us to tears.

As it turned out, Saquon's night turned out as we expected. He won the Offensive Player of the Year Award as the MVP trophy, as it always is, was handed to a quarterback. We're proud of Saquon. No Eagles star has ever won OPOY, but again, we kind of feel slighted by the result.

At this point, we're fatigued. Why don't we just call this as we see it? The MVP trophy is now a quarterback's award, but in terms of 'value' no one eclipses Number 26 in Midnight Green.

Don't you worry about anything Mr. Barkley. We're going to go win this Super Bowl. Saquon, regardless of what is said, is the MVP in our book!
