Eagles whose stock is soaring after victory over Jaguars extends winning streak
We don't know about you, but we were sweating. As the Jacksonville Jaguars drove down the field vs. the Philadelphia Eagles defense, there we were. All we could do was pray the time on the game clock would evaporate.
We won't lie. We were nervous.
This feels like the loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2. That's literally what we were telling ourselves. Sue us. We weren't optimistic that the Philadelphia Eagles would pull this one out, but they did. We're happy. Philly is 6-2, and though we can argue about style points, the result is all that truly matters.
The Dallas Cowboys lost to the Atlanta Falcons. The Commanders kept their momentum going vs. the New York Giants. Philly keeps pace with Washington. A game vs. the Cowboys comes on November 10th.
So, just like that, it's Cowboys Week. Let the trash-talking commence, but before we do, let's hand out some game balls following Philly's win over Doug Pederson's Jags.
Several Eagles saw a stock increase after Week 9's win over the Jaguars.
Another win, and we roll on. Philly is a perfect 4-0 after the bye week. Jalen Hurts has now run for a TD and thrown for another in his 22nd game as an Eagles QB. That's a franchise record.
His exceptional turnaround after the bye week continues. His stock continues to rise, and he isn't the only one Bird who's seen his approval ratings soar. As Election Day nears, here are a few of his teammates whose approval rating is soaring.
DeVonta Smith & Saquon Barkley
Sometimes, we cheat DeVonta Smith and Saquon Barkley. They're so good that we often ignore them on lists like these because we know they're brilliant. How can we think more of them than we already do, right?
Saquon has a legitimate argument for winning the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year trophy, but he deserves more. He should be in the MVP conversation (even though we know he'd never win because he doesn't play the QB position). Meanwhile, DeVonta Smith keeps proving he's every bit the go-to guy that AJ Bown is.
Check out a few of their highlights!
Yes, you read that correctly. Philly scored TDs on 3rd and 22 AND 3rd and 17!
Nakobe Dean and Zack Baun
The Eagles picked off two Trevor Lawrence passes. They came courtesy of Zack Baun and Nakobe Dean. The latter was a game-ender.
These guys are making plays week in and week out. Who knew? Philly's linebacker corps is trending toward being very special!
Sydney Brown and Kelee Ringo
The depth chart suggests Sydney Brown and Kelee Ringo won't receive too many defensive snaps. They are monsters on special teams though, and they combined for a turnover that helped Philly score its first points of the season during the opening quarter.
Credit Michael Clay's unit for another big play in this one.
Cooper DeJean
He returns punts. He plays well in coverage. He can blitz if asked to do that. We're starting to hear 'Coop' chants reverberate through Lincoln Financial Field more often.
One week after a key fourth-down stop vs. the Cincinnati Bengals, he continues to wow us. We really like this dude. He's going to be one hell of an Eagle. Some might say he's already arrived. We'd agree with both sentiments.
