Eagles waited 21 years for this moment (but sure made it as difficult as possible)

They did it!

It was quite the bumpy road for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2025, but they finally finished the job two years in a row.

The Eagles took down the Washington Commanders 29-18 in Week 16 to move them to 10-5 on the season. Philly helped eliminate the Dallas Cowboys from playoff contention.

More importantly, the win over Washington sealed the NFC East title for the second straight season. That is the first time that has happened in the division in 20 years, when the Eagles were the last team to do it.

The Eagles did not make this easy, but they got the job done

Philly's performance against the Commanders was the perfect metaphor for how the season has gone. A nice, but not great start to the season (7-3 lead in the game), stumbled late in the first half (10-7 deficit at halftime), and finished ugly, but got the job done.

The good thing about the Washington game, though, is that Saquon Barkley is starting to pick up steam on the ground after his second 100-yard game in the last three games, with 132 and one touchdown. Even Jalen Hurts has found a rhythm to run the ball with 40 yards against the Commanders.

While Hurts is missing on throws, he was still good at passing the football in the game, with 185 yards and two touchdowns. His top target in the match was A.J. Brown with nine catches for 95 yards in the win.

The defense was even better again, allowing less than 250 yards, with Washington only converting two of 10 third downs. Eagles' secondary got six pass deflections, including four from Cooper DeJean, and got two sacks in the win.

There's a lot to be desired with the special teams, with Jake Elliott missing two field goals (really three if it wasn't for a Commanders penalty). That conversation is for another day.

Philly should celebrate this moment after an up and down season, but now the focus has to be improving the next two weeks and get ready for the postseason.
