Well, it's been 24 hours since waived players can be claimed by other NFL teams, and everyone seems interested in some of the Philadelphia Eagles players.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero first shared the list of waiver claims around the league. The Eagles didn't claim any players, but they lost four to other teams.
- Cameron Williams, OT - Atlanta Falcons
- Myles Hinton, OT - Cincinnati Bengals
- Kapena Gushiken, S - Indianapolis Colts
- Cameron Latu, TE - New England Patriots
Eagles lose four players to the waiver wire that could have made up practice squad
About 25% of the practice squad may have been made up of players who are gone or have signed with other teams. These are some stinging losses for the Eagles as well.
Latu is the biggest name after being a special teams demon for the Eagles over the last year-plus. He got a punt blocked last year in the Week 4 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that ended up making the difference in the game. Latu now reunites with A.J. Brown and Milton Williams in New England.
Gushiken was developing nicely for the Eagles and looked like a guy who could compete for a starting job at safety in the next year or two. Now Philly loses a guy who would have made for a good practice squad guy.
As for the offensive tackles, Hinton struggled throughout his tenure with the Eagles and never looked like he'd make the roster anyway. Williams showed more promise, but just wasn't healthy enough for the Eagles to stay patient with him.
This now leaves Eagles general manager Howie Roseman in quite the predicament with his roster. Roseman hoped to bring back at least three of those four players to the practice squad, but that's not the case. Losing Latu is the biggest one, as that will directly affect how the special teams function.
Now Roseman will have to work hard to find some other guys to bring onto the practice squad. They hoped he would keep most of the guys they released, but that may not be the case.
The good news is that Uar Bernard and Joshua Weru, who were recently cut, weren't, as claimed, gone; the Eagles can bring them back. That will at least help those guys develop this season.

The Eagles' practice squad might look different than expected, but one thing about Roseman: he can always find those hidden talents.
