Eagles Week 17 rooting instructions: Pray Philly wins and two NFC teams lay eggs

You guys can give up on the idea of the Eagles earning the top seed in the NFC come time for the NFL Playoffs. We refuse to do so.

Is everyone okay? We gave you a couple of days. We let the sting of that tough loss suffered in Landover wear off. We hoped that Philadelphia Eagles fans would come to their senses.

What can we say? We're still doing our part.

We offered silver linings. When you needed positivity, we were there. We have figured it out. Most of you enjoy being unhappy.

Philly lost one game. Say that out loud. Philly lost ONE GAME and half of the fan base started spiraling. The Birds are 12-3. They've wrapped up a postseason berth.

This week, the opponent is the hated Dallas Cowboys. The last time Philly wore Kelly Green and played Dallas in a home game, they stopped Emmett Smith on a fourth-and-one carry twice.

The coming game will be played at 1 pm EST. Ladies and gentlemen... Here is your Week 17 rooting guide.

Sunday, December 29th

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles

First things first. There's no point in sticking our noses in the business of others until we sweep our front porches and mow the lawns.

Here's what we want. This one is easy. Philly wins the NFC East by beating Dallas in this one, and even if the stakes weren't high, why the heck would we ever desire a Cowboys win? We can't even do that if it somehow benefits the Eagles.

Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings

We still haven't given up on winning the top seed and home-field advantage in the playoffs. If that's to happen. The Birds need both Minnesota and Detroit to lose on Sunday. Then, they need the Vikings to outlast the Lions in their Week 18 finale.

Yep! We're Packers fans for three hours beginning at 4:25 pm EST. Gosh, we never thought we'd say something so disgusting.

Monday, December 30th

Detroit Lions at San Francisco 49ers

See above and take notes. We repeat. We need a Lions loss here. No, we actually need Detroit to lose their final two regular-season games.

Detroit will be a road favorite on MOnday Night Football. Again, we can't believe we're saying this, but it would be nice if the 49ers did us all a solid.
