Most of you who have rocked with us for the past decade and a half know a few things to be true. We don't mind beating ourselves on the chest occasionally when we are right about our Philadelphia Eagles, especially when we're told that we don't know what we are talking about.
Now, that isn't to say that we won't make mistakes. We often do, but when we do, we'll be the first to own up to it.
That being said, we were hard on C.J. Gardner-Johnson. We were also guilty of doing what we sometimes complain about. We let our theories about C.J.'s reputation guide our thoughts about his ejection.
Is he emotional? He most certainly is... We stand by previous statements that he can't let his emotions get him kicked out of games, but truthfully, C.J. may have a point in this particular instance.
Eagles news: A new angle of the events leading to C.J. Gardner-Johnson's ejection may paint Philly's safety in a slightly different light.
By now, most of you have seen that other angle of the mini-altercation that led to C.J. Gardner-Johnson's ejection. If not, we enter exhibit A into evidence.
What do you think? C.J. hung out on social media postgame and stated he had done nothing wrong. His reputation is well-known. Honestly, his reputation is well-deserved. On more than one occasion, he's been mentioned as one of pro football's most annoying players.
The officiating has been horrific in the NFL this season though. We could mention something from every Eagles game, but think about the recent unnecessary roughness penalties on Reed Blankenship and Jalen Carter. They're almost phantom in their nature, but this should have, at minumum, drawn flags on both sides.
What are we doing here? We're ejecting C.J. G.J. for trash talk?
Number 8 is no saint by any means. This is abhorrent though, so we'll take the high road. We owe C.J. an apology and a slight retraction. so we'll give him that. By the looks of things, last Sunday's crew chief, Shawn Smith, also owes him an apology.
More Eagles news: Well, at least Sunday's loss eliminated two teams we hate.
The San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys both entered Week 16 needing the Washington Commanders to lose to keep their playoff hopes alive. There isn't anyone in Texas or the Bay Area that doesn't know how that turned out.
Seeing the Eagles lose was annoying, but hey it happens. They probably screwed themselves out of the top seed, but again, their loss sent the Niners and Cowboys packing.
May both franchises rest in pieces during the offseason! You already know how we feel about Dallas, and recently, this Niners team has evolved into a bit of an extended rival.
Have fun working on that offseason plan guys!
