Things in the NFC East could have gone better for the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3, but the Dallas Cowboys lost in spectacular fashion, so no one will complain too much.
The Eagles did not play on Sunday, as they prepare for a Monday Night Football showdown against the Chicago Bears to close out the week. Philly enters the game at 2-0 and needs a win to stay atop the division. Chicago is looking to stay afloat without Caleb Williams at quarterback, with a 1-1 record.
Sunday was a busy day in the NFC East, as the rest of the division played different teams. Here's a look at the results of those games and what they mean for the division race.
Week 3 NFC East results from Commanders, Giants, and Cowboys
Even without Jaxson Dart at quarterback, the Giants survived against the winless Tennessee Titans, 12-7 in an ugly, rainy, defensive slugfest. New York managed only 238 total yards of offense, led by Jameis Winston. Giants' defense held Tennessee to under 270 yards to secure their second win of the game.
In the day's biggest upset, the Marcus Mariota-led Commanders also fought through the rain to beat the undefeated Seattle Seahawks 33-31. Washington's offense managed only 258 total yards, but Mariota threw three touchdowns and zero interceptions. The difference in the game was the Commanders' defensive touchdown and three turnovers that led to the win.
Finally, in the most hilariously unsurprising result, the Cowboys tied the game with a field goal with seven seconds left, then still lost 34-31 after a Lamar Jackson completion with one second left and a Tyler Loop 56-yard field goal to give the Baltimore Ravens the win. Dallas went over 400 yards of offense, but poor time management and late play-calling cost them the game.
Current look at NFC East and where things stand for Eagles
Let's take a look at the latest NFC East standings after the three games played by the Giants, Commanders, and Cowboys:
1. Philadelphia Eagles 2-0

3. Dallas Cowboys 1-2
4. Washington Commanders 1-2
Well, it's great to see the Cowboys near the bottom of the division, and now they've found themselves in a lot of trouble early in the season. They have the Houston Texans next, and they haven't won a game yet,e so they might need some luck in Week 4.
New York is actually in the driver's seat to stay competitive, as their next four games are all against bad teams:
vs. Arizona Cardinals
at Washington Commanders
vs. New Orleans Saints
at Houston Texans
Those teams combine for a 3-9 record. The Giants actually being 6-1 when they face the Eagles in November is a crazy thought, but not completely out of the realm of possibility.
Washington has a chance to survive the next few weeks before Jayden Daniels returns from his elbow injury, with the Indianapolis Colts, the Giants, and the San Francisco 49ers on the calendar before their second matchup against the Eagles.
Philly should still be the heavy favorite to win the division, but it might take some time since the Giants have a ridiculously easy schedule for the next month. The Eagles now feel more pressure to beat the Bears and continue their winning ways. Any losses now could sink them, so they have to keep winning.

Running away with the NFC East isn't in the cards yet for the Eagles, but it is trending in that direction once November hits or if the Giants just completely fall apart in the next few weeks.
