A handful of Eagles who were hammers in Week 13 (and two Ravens who were nails)

What a night! What a win! What a performance!

What a win! What domination! There were rough spots, but dare we say it? To describe the Philadelphia Eagles' most recent win, we have to make up words that don't exist and use others that toe the line. Philly was, shall we say, uncriticizable.

We didn't say they were perfect. They weren't, but how do you complain after this win? Sure, they got off to a slow start. Sure, the first quarter was tough to watch again. Maybe we're being emotional, but we don't care about that.

The refs sucked, but don't they always? Come on. Milton Williams' jersey was almost ripped off during that final long Lamar Jackson scramble.

Ebbs and flows are part of football, but the Eagles beat a good team in THEIR HOUSE. We'll take the lumps and chalk them up to playing one of the AFC's best squads on the road.

With the win, the Birds (our Birds) improve to 10-2 after winning their eighth straight. Never have ten game balls been handed out in a locker room, but what can we say? We're trailblazers!

Several Eagles played the role of hammer vs. the Ravens in Week 13. A couple of the Ravens' stars played the role of the nail.

The Ravens won the time-of-possession battle and committed fewer penalties. No, that isn't true. The Ravens were called for fewer penalties, but we'll get over it. That didn't help them put more points on the scoreboard.

Philly leads the NFC East by three games (and they hold tie-breakers over the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Commanders).

We tip our cap after some amazing individual performances.

Hammer: Jalen Hurts

The stat line works for us. 19 passing attempts resulted in 11 completions. Jalen Hurts threw a TD pass and rushed for another. He was phenomenal.

He wasn't perfect by any means, but he was at his best when he needed to be. That's what it takes to be a franchise QB.

Hammer: Dallas Goedert

After seeing the Eagles spam the ball to Grant Calcaterra while Dallas Goedert was injured, our minds were made up. There was no reason, in our minds, why this team couldn't get the ball to 88 when he returned.

In Week 13, Dallas came through with a timely third-down conversion and a TD reception. He caught three of four targets, but we're happy with the results.

Hammer: Saquon Barkley

Eagles star Saquon Barkley won the battle of great running backs. He racked up 107 yards and a TD on 23 carries. He also caught two passes to add another ten yards.

Can we stop playing around? This is the NFL's Most Valuable Player.

Oh, and here's the social media post of the week. Fans of The Wire will appreciate this.

Hammer: Cooper DeJean

You can't use the term hammer and ignore Cooper DeJean. Is this not one of the best tackles you have ever seen?

This is a rookie for goodness sakes! His phenomenal rookie season continues. We love everything we're seeing from him and Quinyon Mitchell.

Hammers: The Philly Dawgs - Nakobe Dean, Nolan Smith, and Jalen Carter

Our Dawgs were on point. They're coming along, and it has been great to watch. Eight pressures, seven hurries, three tackles for loss, two QB hits, and a sack were the result of his night. Nakobe Dean and Nolan Smith combined for 18 tackles, a TFL, and a QB sack.

Hammers: Zack Baun and Jalyx Hunt

Jalyx Hunt got some burn, and he and Zack Baun split a sack. Baun deserves to be in some All-Pro discussions.

Zack's night ended with 13 tackles (eight were solo), one TFL, and the aforementioned half-sack. Philly MUST extend this guy during the offseason.

Hammer: Vic Fangio

We were hard on Vic Fangio early, and we have apologized. We've written retractions. He has learned his players' strengths and proven to be a genius. He's earned our respect!

Nails: Derrick Henry and Justin Tucker

Derrick Henry didn't suck by any means. He notched 82 yards on 19 carries. He also picked up another 29 yards on three receptions.

But, if Cooper DeJean is one of our hammers, we must mention his 'nail'. CBS offered an elite angle of the third down stop by the rookie.

That brings us to Justin Tucker...

Once seen as being 'automatic', Tucker is struggling... And, that's putting things nicely! He missed one of two extra points and missed two of his field goal attempts. We feel like sending him some champagne!

Tucker's struggles were bad news for Baltimore and good news for our Philadelphia Eagles. The good guys earned the victory, and that's all we truly care about.
