Our day probably looked like most of yours. We watched the Philadelphia Eagles beat the New York Giants. We kept tabs on the Washington Commanders and Green Bay Packers' games to see who the Birds' Wild Card Round opponent would be.
Philly entered their regular-season finale vs. the New York Giants knowing they couldn't improve or lose their standing as the NFC's second-seeded playoff team. They elected to rest their starters.
Dallas Goedert, recently activated from the injured reserve to the active roster, got a few snaps to help knock the rust off. He finished his day with four receptions and 55 yards receiving.
Ainias Smith scored his first career TD. Not to be outdone, E.J. Jenkins did the same.
Philly outlasted the rival G-Men to the tune of a 17-13 final score. They still haven't lost to the Giants while wearing their all-black jerseys. They have also extended their home winning streak vs. their rivals to 12 consecutive games.
But, again, we never stopped checking in on the Commanders and Packers.
The Eagles by virtue of a Packers loss will host Green Bay in the Wild Card Round of the NFL Playoffs.
Green Bay was down on the scoreboard vs. the rival Chicago Bears deep in the fourth quarter. They were also wounded. Christian Watson was ruled out with a knee injury. Jordan Love had complications with his elbow.
Had they lost, they would have hit the road to face the Eagles during the Wild Card Round of the coming NFL Playoffs. They seemingly didn't want to do that.
Jordan Love was out of the lineup most of the day after being replaced by Malik Willis. Green Bay tried to warm him up to reinsert him into the lineup. They determined he couldn't go. Willis remained in the game.
The Pack eventually took the lead on a go-ahead field goal, but Chicago engineered a late drive to kick a go-ahead field goal of their own.
Voila! The stage is set. The Birds and Cheese Heads will meet for the fourth time in a playoff game. The first time it happened, Philly won the NFL Championship and gave Vince Lombardi the only postseason loss he would ever suffer. Might we be on the verge of another deep postseason run by the Eagles? Might Green Bay help them start one?
