Many would think that Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio would have been happy about the Pro Bowl roster, but he had a significant problem with one snub.
The NFL announced the Pro Bowl roster, with four Eagles defenders on Fangio's unit, including center Cam Jurgens, representing the offense. One defensive player on the Eagles was considered one of the league's biggest snubs, with defensive tackle Jordan Davis not making the cut.
Eagles reporters asked Fangio about Davis not making the Pro Bowl roster, and the defensive coordinator was not happy about it, going so far as to propose a plan for who should put it together.
“He should have, for sure," Fangio said via NBC's John Clark. "I think they need to form a committee for the Pro Bowl, get a couple retired coaches, couple retired personnel guys, couple retired players that will take pride in it, and they name it. Everybody and their mother's got a vote.”
Fangio is every Eagles fan after Davis didn't make the Pro Bowl
The Eagles' defensive coordinator made a solid point: there have been complaints that the Pro Bowl selections are a bit of a joke. Fans' votes make up 33% of the voting, which ends up just being a popularity contest, as seen with the Chicago Bears winning the most players in the top 10, which included guys like rookie wide receiver Luther Burden III, who had just 479 yards and one touchdown, but made the top 10.
In 15 games this season, Davis racked up 65 tackles, nine tackles for loss, eight quarterback pressures, six pass deflections, six quarterback hits, and 4.5 sacks. These are numbers that are mostly better than those of his teammate, Jalen Carter, who played just 10 games and still made the Pro Bowl.
Nobody on the Eagles deserved to make the Pro Bowl more than Davis, who put in the work to get better in the offseason. He lost 26 pounds, which has made him quicker off the line and helped him last longer on the field without getting too tired.

There aren't many people in Philadelphia who are happy that Davis got screwed out of the Pro Bowl, but it's nice to see his coach defend him and propose a logical plan the NFL should follow. Eagles fans will have to watch Davis play with some fire and make the league pay for excluding him from the Pro Bowl.
