The Philadelphia Eagles pulled off a nice 29-18 win over the Washington Commanders in Week 16 to win the NFC East division title, but there was still some drama coming from the game.
Everyone has been talking about the fight that broke out on the field between the two teams late in the fourth quarter, and about another moment involving just the Eagles. A video has surfaced of Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts passionately talking to the offensive line when running back Saquon Barkley jumped in to say something. Still, Hurts seemed to push Barkley away to continue his conversation.
When Hurts spoke with the media before the Christmas holiday break, he was asked about the moment and what happened with it. Hurts was honest about the emotions that came up while making sure everyone was on the same page.
“We were all communicating with the offensive line to be on the same page," Hurts said via NBC's John Clark. "We had emotions that flared throughout that, trying to go out there and put things together with that unit.”
Eagles working tough to try to sure up the mistakes
This is not the first time Eagles fans have seen Hurts get fired up on the sidelines. In the Week 3 Los Angeles Rams game, he had a passionate conversation with offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo that helped spark a 19-point comeback by the Eagles to win the game.
Hurts may come off as a calming presence to the media when he speaks to them, but there is a fire burning inside him. He has never hidden the fact that all he cares about is winning, no matter how the team or he looks in a football game.
It was a good overall performance for Hurts in the win against the Commanders as he threw for 185 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. The slow start in the first half seemed to have gotten fixed by Hurts after his conversation with the offensive line, so at least something good came out of it.

Philly enters Week 17 against the Buffalo Bills with a chance to earn the number two seed in the NFC playoffs. Eagles fans can bet anything that Hurts is going to do whatever it takes to make sure his team gets a much-needed win to have momentum going into the postseason, as this could be the last regular season game for the starters.
