Every single Eagles fan should know the number one 2026 offseason question

It's obvious.

Decisions, decisions, decisions, is all Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman can think about with a month to go before free agency kicks off.

Roseman has four key pending free agents to decide on: Jaelan Phillips, Dallas Goedert, Reed Blankenship, and Nakobe Dean. While this next player isn't a free agent, arguably the biggest decision for Roseman is what, exactly, he's going to do with star wide receiver A.J. Brown in 2026.

Last season, Brown asked to be traded multiple times, starting after Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams. With a storyline that has been going on for two seasons, ESPN Eagles reporter Tim McManus identified the Brown situation as the biggest decision Philly has in the 2026 offseason.

"Brown has made his mark as arguably the best receiver in Philadelphia's history, posting two 1,400-plus-yard seasons and reaching two Super Bowls since joining the team in 2022. His frustrations with the offense have been well documented, however, and it's fair to wonder whether that impacted his play in 2025. The front office will have to decide whether it can get Brown to buy in or it's better to move on from him. 'It is hard to find great players in the NFL, and A.J.'s a great player,' general manager Howie Roseman said in January."

Will the Eagles indeed send A.J. Brown packing?

Brown is coming off the worst season of his Eagles career, as he had just 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns. It was the first year since being in Philly where he did not lead the team in receiving yards and was not selected to the Pro Bowl or All-Pro.

Roseman has been shy about trading Brown away, as he and the rest of the organization know how good he is. There's also that $75 million dead cap hit Brown will have on the Eagles that the public continues to ignore for some reason.

If Philly ends up trading Brown, there are multiple consequences to this move, starting with the financial impact, which will not help them sign and re-sign players for the next two to three years. It also puts the offense in a position where they need to find a number-two receiver, with DeVonta Smith moving up to the number-one target (some might argue he was already there).

There is still over a month to free agency, and Roseman technically has all offseason to decide on Brown, so don't expect the Eagles to rush into a decision with him.
