The Philadelphia Eagles are moving forward with the 2026 season without Landon Dickerson after he was placed on IR, but who will be taking over for him at left guard?
Since the Dickerson news, the Eagles have stayed mum about what they plan to do. Many of the Eagles reporters believe Dre Kendall will get the job. Kendall is expected to be competing with Willie Lampkin for the starting job.
In some scenarios, Kendall or Lampkin could start at center, and Cam Jurgens could move to left guard. Regardless, it looks like Kendall is going to be the guy, but what should Eagles fans know about their potential new starter?
What Eagles fans should know about Drew Kendall
During his college years at Boston College, Kendall was the Eagles' starting center from 2022 through 2024. He was named a first-team All-ACC selection in 2024. According to the Boston College website, he "posted a team-best 83.1 pass block grade as well as a 76.8 offensive grade from PFF and allowed just five pressures of 350 dropback snaps."
That was enough to convince the Eagles to take a chance on him, selecting him in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He started one game for Philly last year in the seven games he appeared in. With Dickerson and Jurgens dealing with injuries, Kendall did find some playing time.
Entering training camp, there wasn't as much buzz around Kendall until it got underway. After that, Kendall impressed everyone and played well in the preseason, not allowing a single sack. He played so well that he didn't even appear in the final preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals, securing his spot on the 53-man roster.
Now the tide has turned for Kendall, as he rolls into Week 2 most likely starting at left guard for awhile. Dickerson is dealing with a knee injury that will keep him out at least four weeks and could be longer depending on the severity.
The Eagles seem to be in good shape with Kendall, who has been playing well so far in 2026. His development under new offensive line coach Chris Kuper has been impressive to see. It's giving Eagles fans hope that they will be okay at left guard.
In fact, the conversation has started as to whether Kendall is actually the future at the position. With how he has been playing over the last month, there's a strong chance of that happening.

The Eagles take on the Tennessee Titans in Week 2, which will be a tough task for Kendall, as he will most likely go up against Jeffery Simmons. If Kendall can handle Simmons, there's no doubt he will be a starter for the Eagles for possibly longer than four games.
