Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts seems to be all anyone can talk about in the media lately, which makes sense since he is a polarizing figure for everyone outside of Philly.
Hurts has taken all kinds of criticisms from the media, but has also seen his fair share of people defending him. One of those guys standing by him is a former Eagles teammate, a Super Bowl champion safety Rodney McLeod, who appeared on 97.5 The Fanatic to share what he saw during Hurts's rookie season in 2020.
"Everything I am seeing today, I saw in 2020. Which is why he stands here today as a champion, a leader, and somebody that will go down in Eagles history as one of the best QBs to put on the uniform."
Rodney McLeod stands by Jalen Hurts by defending him
McLeod was a teammate of Hurts's in 2020 and 2021 before he departed for the Indianapolis Colts. The former Eagles defensive back saw the team transition from Carson Wentz to Hurts as their quarterback, but never got to see the final product that Eagles fans have enjoyed over the years.
Since McLeod departed from Philly, Hurts has made it to three Pro Bowls, two Super Bowls, one Super Bowl win, and one Super Bowl MVP. Those kinds of accomplishments should warrant the quarterback to have a little more trust that he's a good quarterback from the general public, right?
Well, not quite as Hurts has taken criticism for not being coachable and changing the plays whenever he wants to. Some have said he is unwilling to throw it in the middle of the field, but McLeod defends the quarterback, arguing that he can adapt to a different type of offense that calls for more middle-of-the-field passes.
"If the ball is asked to be in the middle of the field, I think he is going to put it right there."

Everyone should wait to judge the franchise quarterback, but maybe give McLeod a listen as he saw Hurts firsthand. He knows how good Hurts can be and has been.
