First Eagles Week 6 injury report offers the best news we've heard in weeks
Lane Johnson's day versus the New Orleans Saints ended after playing only 18 snaps. Week 6 also ended early for DeVonta Smith. He'd only play 55. Neither suited up to play for the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4. We've been hopeful ever since for some good news.
It's been even longer since we've seen AJ Brown. Five receptions, 119 yards receiving, and a TD were the results of his Week 1 effort. Sadly, that's the gist of his contribution this season.
Thankfully, that might change... And, that might change very soon.
The Philadelphia Eagles share their first Week 6 injury report ahead of their clash with the Browns.
Philly's first practice following the bye was full-padded. Head coach Nick Sirianni met with the media before things got going. All 52 members of the active roster were on the field.
New tackling drills we hadn't seen before were employed. All eyes were on three offensive starters (and two youngsters still on the injured reserve).
The Eagles opened 21-day practice windows for safety Sydney Brown and wide receiver Ainias Smith. They can be elevated to the active roster at any point in that allotted period. If Philly elects against adding them, they return to the IR for the remainder of the season. Smith and Brown were both in full pads and practicing on Wednesday.
A.J., DeVonta, and Lane were also at the session. DeVonta is still in the NFL's concussion protocol, but his presence was evidence of his progression. The expectation is he'll be medically cleared to play this week.
Wednesday's full injury report is below.
Injury kept AJ out of January's Wild Card loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A hamstring issue he suffered during a Week 2 practice in September kept him out of the three regular-season games that followed Philly's trip to Brazil.
All of that appears to be behind us. Three of Philly's best players have taken another step toward returning to the lineup for Week 6's game versus the Cleveland Browns, and for Birds fans, those words are music to the ears.
