This is always the toughest part of the season for NFL teams, as the Philadelphia Eagles had to say goodbye to several players in the first round of cuts made.
The Eagles have until Sunday to finalize their 53-man roster, which means there will be waves of releases. For Philly, 13 players got the axe within the first 24 hours after the kickoff of their 30-13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
So who are the players that got cut? Here is the intial list with many more to go:

- Maximus Pulley, DB
- Michael Jordan, OG
- Quez Watkins, WR
- Ambry Thomas, CB
- Gabe Hall, DT
- Zion Wilson, DT
- Myles Hinton, OT
- Tariq Castro-Fields, CB
Carson Steele leads names of Eagles who got cut on first wave
Steele had arguably the best preseason of any player on the offensive side of the ball. He rushed 21 times for 59 yards and led the team with 14 receptions for 136 yards and two touchdowns in three games. If Steel doesn't get claimed off waivers, he is a lock to be on the practice squad.
Watkins is another big name that is gone now after being on and off the team for the last half-decade-plus. He was a long shot to make it, but he was Jalen Hurts' first real deep threat receiver with great speed, and Hollywood Brown took over that role in 2026.
Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio shouted out Hall last year as a great practice squad player. It wouldn't be too much of a surprise if the Eagles went in that same direction with Hall again.
There are reports about Wilson that if he clears waivers, he will be picked up as a practice squad member for the Eagles. He has been a nice young player for the team to develop.
Hinton is a former 2025 draft pick of the Eagles who hasn't been able to live up to expectations since being selected. He has great size but just wasn't able to get to the level the Eagles needed him to.

There will be over 20 more players who get cut and released from the team so more moves are on the Eagles. It will be a tough next 24 hours for the players, so Eagles fans will have to see how they do.
