Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman knows when to find value in a great player when they are overlooked.
Roseman once had cornerback Rasul Douglas on his team before he became a solid starter in the NFL for multiple teams, and might have a shot at getting him back in Philly. Pro Football Focus writer Ryan Smith named Douglas as one of the five most underrated free agent defenders available.
"The Miami Dolphins signed cornerback Douglas to a one-year, $3 million deal in late August, and he went on to be one of the league’s top value free agent signings in the NFL this season. The former third-round pick out of West Virginia ranked 21st out of 112 qualifying cornerbacks with a 73.5 PFF overall grade.
Douglas was one of 21 cornerbacks to record at least nine pass breakups and his 72.6 passer rating allowed ranked 11th among cornerbacks with at least 250 coverage snaps. He’s been an excellent coverage corner over the last five years, recording 16 interceptions and 35 pass breakups in that time."
Should Eagles consider a reunion with Rasul Douglas?
One of the biggest questions for Philly entering free agency is what they are going to do at the cornerback position with Adoree' Jackson a free agent. While Jackson was inconsistent, he had some good moments with a nice run late in the season for the Eagles.
Douglas will be 31 when the 2026 season kicks off, but he has been more consistent in coverage than Jackson has been over the last few years. The Eagles don't need anyone spectacular back there, but a CB2 that can be trusted to help All-Pro corners Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean without putting them in compromising positions.

Philly let him walk once, but the Eagles shouldn't let Douglas go to another team and bring him back home for another run at it.
