While the Philadelphia Eagles' season is now over, one former Eagles quarterback will be taking his talents to the United Football League.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson will be joining the UFL's Orlando Storm, coached by former NFL tight end Anthony Becht.
Thompson-Robinson looks to be the face of the upstart franchise, as he, along with former Carolina Panthers quarterback Jack Plummer, was selected during the UFL's quarterback allotment period. DTR is one of the UFL's more experienced quarterbacks, as the former UCLA alum was a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, spending two seasons with the Cleveland Browns before spending this past training camp with Philadelphia.

DTR was acquired by the Eagles for former first-round pick and 2024 backup quarterback Kenny Pickett, who was expected to compete for the backup QB position with Tanner McKee. With an anemic preseason showing, DTR was released in favor of McKee and rookie draft pick Kyle McCord. The Eagles opted to trade for Sam Howell from Minnesota, with McKee dealing with an injury prior to week one.
The Eagles have had several ties to spring football teams since 2019, when the Alliance of American Football began operations. Greg Ward, a quarterback-turned-wide receiver, was released by the Eagles from the AAF's San Antonio Commanders after spending five seasons with Philadelphia, most notably his 2020 season, when he recorded 53 receptions for 419 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
This past offseason, the Eagles gave defensive lineman Jacob Sykes an opportunity after spending the spring of 2025 with the San Antonio Brahmas, spending time on Philadelphia's practice squad. With player development extremely crucial, the United Football League serves as an avenue for younger players to earn "game reps" in an effort to extend and enhance their careers, in hopes of reaching the next level.

With the quarterback position under immense scrutiny, the UFL is hoping that players like DTR can serve as an avenue for fringe NFL players who can make the jump after fine-tuning their development, earning reps they wouldn't get during an NFL season. DTR and the rest of the UFL are scheduled to begin their third year of play on March 27.
