For the first time since 2015, the Philadelphia Eagles are set to suit up on Thanksgiving, as a road date in Dallas against the Cowboys awaits them, per the recently released 2026 NFL schedule.

While a showdown in Big D is always circled on calendars amid this impassioned NFC East rivalry, extra significance arrives with the two teams squaring off in Dallas on a holiday synonymous with both family and football.

Just don't count former Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long amongst the fans of where the game is taking place. Speaking on The Green Light with Chris Long, the two-time Super Bowl champion went ham on the annual domed stadium locale for NFL Turkey Day games:

Chris Long opens up about Eagles' Thanksgiving Day game

"Thanksgiving is a f*cking cold-weather holiday, when you think of a turkey being cooked in a parking lot before the game," Long continued. "When you think about a turkey bowl game in the backyard, is the grass Bermuda? Or is it western grass? Or is it clumped up, like back east?"

"What did Dallas do to deserve a Thanksgiving game every year in their home stadium? They play the Eagles this year, and this isn't even what my gripe's about, but you could play that game in the Linc, and it would be incredible. Could you imagine Philly on Thanksgiving? The pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock; they didn't land in Galveston, or somewhere down there. It's a north-eastern holiday. To me, the game should be played outdoors on Thanksgiving."

The Eagles last squared off with Dallas on Thanksgiving back in 2014, dominating in the domed environment with a 33-10 victory. Overall, Philadelphia is 6-1 in Thanksgiving action, with only the Pittsburgh Steelers beating them 7-0 back in 1940.

Long and all the Eagles faithful can agree the Linc is definitely a different beast when that wintry chill hits. And even though they'll be in the cozy confines of AT&T Stadium next November for the big game, the visitors will be intent on bringing a cold front with them when they clash with the Cowboys.
