The magic that Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has with his trades ends up working out for the best with the Birds once again.
Eagles fans might remember that after the 2023 season, they traded edge rusher Haason Reddick to the New York Jets for a conditional 2026 mid-round pick. The conditions of that pick were that if Reddick played 67.5% of the snaps and had 10 sacks in 2024, it would become a second-round pick.
Reddick would go on to have just one sack in 10 games played in 2024, so he would become a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. That selection will end up being the 68th overall pick.
Howie Roseman got the job done and got a great deal out of it
That trade turned out to be a good move for the Eagles, as Reddick has not been the same player who had 27 sacks and five forced fumbles in the two seasons he was with the team. He has since racked up 3.5 sacks with the Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the last two years.
Initially, the main reason Reddick was traded was that he was seeking a new deal, and the Eagles were unwilling to pay him because he was an aging defender about to turn 30. The worry was that his production would go down as he got older, which has been the case.
This is where Roseman is at his best, as he knows when to pull the plug on a player and try to get some value out of him. That ended up working out well as Josh Sweat stepped up in 2024 as the top pass rusher, and now the Eagles have great players like Jaelan Phillips, Nolan Smith Jr., and Jalyx Hunt coming off the edge.

Eagles fans have learned quickly to let Roseman cook, and he indeed served up a beautiful gourmet meal with a high mid-round pick to show for it.
