Entering Week 7, the NFC East race was wide open for any of the four teams to take and run with it, including the Philadelphia Eagles, who are currently on a four-game losing streak.
Philly enters the week in second place behind the 3-2-1 New York Giants, with a shot to pass them with some help. A big factor in the Eagles' race was that they face the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football to close out the week.
The Washington Commanders are on a bye week, but with a 1-3-1 record this season, they seem to be the odd one out so far. As for the Giants, they have a tough road matchup against the Houston Texans, and things did not go according to plan for the Eagles.
Giants took care of business in overtime to give themselves bigger lead in NFC East
Despite J.J. McCarthy starting at quarterback for the first time this season, the Giants still took care of business. It took overtime, but they still got a massive 27-21 win over the Texans.
McCarthy finished with 252 passing yards, but the Giants ran for 188 yards and four touchdowns. Cam Skattebo led the way with 124 yards and one touchdown.
That win put the Giants at 4-2-1 and gave them a two-game division lead. This was the last thing the Eagles and Cowboys needed in a pivotal Monday Night Football matchup.
Eagles must beat the Cowboys more than ever now after Giants' Week 7 win
The Eagles really can't afford to lose to the Cowboys after what New York did. That will only make the division race harder.
If the Eagles fall to 2-5, that might be the kiss of death to their 2026 season. They may not be able to recover from the tumble down the divisional standings.
Things are already tough for the Eagles as they enter their Week 7 showdown. They are playing this game without DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, Nolan Smith Jr., and Michael Carter. Jonathan Greenard, Saquon Barkley, and Landon Dickerson are key players who are questionable entering the contest.
Philly will have to lean on their backup quarterback, Tanner McKee, to lead the way with Jalen Hurts out for the season with his blood clot injury. McKee was efficient, but not great in the Week 6 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
With all the cards stacked against the Eagles in Week 7, this won't be an easy game for them as they try to find the win they desperately need. If the Cowboys beat them, several new conversations are likely to start.
One, do injured star players like Barkley and DeVonta Smith start getting shut down for the season? Could the Eagles become big sellers at the trade deadline?

Philly is focused on getting a win first before going down that road. The Giants, though, certainly didn't make it any easier for the Eagles.
