Some questions are finally being answered about the Philadelphia Eagles' ugly 24-15 loss to the Chicago Bears.
HBO's Hard Knocks show is back with the season covering the end part of the NFC East. One moment caught the Eagles and Bears game when quarterback Jalen Hurts missed DeVonta Smith on what looked like it was going to be an easy touchdown pass as Hurts threw it behind Smith.
The Hard Knocks cameras caught Smith and Hurts' interaction on the sidelines as Smith approached Hurts, asking him what he was thinking.
"When I pulled it like this, I thought you were going to settle down," Hurts said.
"I took that what we talked about," Smith said.
Moments after that, Hurts hurled an expletive on the sideline, got up from the bench, and took accountability for missing the play while giving words of encouragement to his teammates.
"That's a play I got to make. Keep doing what you all doing. Here we go. We'll finish the next one. That's the play I make."
Missed moment was huge in the loss for Eagles
Those are the moments Eagles fans want to see, as Hurts understands he missed the play. It was all a matter of just miscommunication between him and Smith, but that has seemed to be the problem all season.
Philly fans have seen that time and time again earlier in the year, where Hurts would miss Smith or A.J. Brown deep for potential touchdown passes, and they would fall incomplete. All season, it hasn't felt like this offense has ever gotten into rhythm or been in good communication.
The Eagles finished that Bears game with just 317 yards of offense, with Hurts turning the ball over two times. It was a horrible loss to take as Philly fell to 8-4 on the season, but it still holds a slim two-game lead on the division over the Dallas Cowboys.
