Few people have seen Philadelphia Eagles fans watch wide receiver Hollywood Brown make any kind of impact on the offense in 2026, but Elijah Moore's time could be coming soon.
Over the first two weeks, Brown has had no receptions, but he did get two carries for 12 yards in the 24-20 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 2. The Eagles have slowly tried to get Brown involved and use his speed as an offensive weapon.
A new problem has arisen with Brown, as he was a late addition to the injury report and missed Friday's practice with a knee injury. That now creates a new concern that he might not be able to play. If Brown can't play, Moore would have a surprising opportunity to prove himself with the Eagles.
Elijah Moore might have an interesting role with Eagles if he plays in Week 3
Moore is a fascinating free agent signing from the offseason that not many Eagles fans thought had a chance to make the team. He's been a long-time WR3 in the NFL, but never really exploding onto the scene. In 70 career games, Moore has caught 209 passes for 2,274 yards and nine touchdowns, adding another 95 rushing yards and two scores.
The NFL has seen him bounce around over the years among the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, and Denver Broncos. Before last year, he had a minimum of 438 receiving yards in a season since 2021, but he had only 112 yards in 2025 on two teams, both with the Bills, and had no stats with the Broncos.
When Moore arrived in Philly, he quickly built chemistry with Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and got good reports in training camp. Moore's preseason stats told a different story, with a two-yard run and two catches for 10 yards.
Philly still decided to keep six wide receivers on the team, including Moore, to give themselves depth. In the first two weeks, Moore was the odd man out and didn't play, spending two straight weeks on the inactive list.
With Brown now potentially out, the Eagles could use Moore as his replacement on the roster. Moore may not have Brown's speed, but he can do much of what he did in the first two games. The Eagles could have Moore doing the wide receiver reverses or jet sweeps while helping on special teams coverage.
Moore's chances of being involved in the passing game, though, still seem very slim. Darius Cooper earned more playing time after catching the game-winning touchdown, but DeVonta Smith, Makai Lemon, and Dontayvion Wicks will get their touches. Britain Covey is also a wide receiver, but he is more of a returner and will be on the field on offense only in an emergency.

Still, Moore might have a sneaky role on this offense, making him an interesting weapon against the Chicago Bears in Week 3. Don't sleep on the idea that if Brown can't go, Moore might raise some eyebrows in this game.
