If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has landed a storied assortment of offensive line talent over the past decade-plus, with legendary line coach Jeff Stoutland maximizing talent and churning out decorated trench performers year after year.
But now, with significant changes in the Eagles' coaching ranks, the key is sustaining that success up front amid the arrival of new offensive coaches, along with different schemes and a new offensive vision. Roseman discussed the fine line his organization knows it must walk heading into the 2026 season,
"I probably would want to hold our cards close to the vest here," Roseman said via The Athletic's Zach Berman. "but I would say we have a system evaluating players that really fits and transcends scheme, and the criteria and qualities that we're looking for in offensive lineman — they fit not only this staff and our last staff, but the way that we're thinking.
"Certainly there's tweaks when you have a new scheme and new coaches come in, but I think that we got a we got a good system that fits the players and the people that we brought in."
Howie Roseman talks about his process with evaluating the offensive line
Sure, change can be good, but in the case of this high-octane offensive line, too much change may tarnish a well-oiled machine. Amid the arrival of new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, and with offensive line coach Chris Kuper joining the Philly ranks in the wake of Stoutland moving on, the coaches and front office must be careful to keep the big picture firmly in focus.
The line has been elite, at times absolutely dominant, for much of the past decade. A big credit for that goes not only to the players themselves, whom Roseman has deftly selected, but also to the unparalleled tutelage provided by Stoutland.
With Kuper and Mannion now tasked with sustaining that standard of excellence up front, Roseman can continue to evaluate and target players who do, in fact, transcend scheme.

Fans of the Philadelphia Eagles know that the tenacity of those who comprise the offensive line won't waver, nor will their ability to move bodies and finish blocks at the second level. Roseman and company have always landed imposing yet agile linemen up front, so one should expect a continued influx of similar, versatile trench talent this upcoming draft.
