After an extremely quiet first day of the legal tampering period, the Philadelphia Eagles fan base is hoping that general manager Howie Roseman will be a lot busier in the upcoming days.
The Eagles have been attached to trade rumors with wide receiver A.J. Brown and Jalen Carter on their own team, but have also called other teams like the Minnesota Vikings about edge rusher Jonathan Greenard. Now, a new rumor is coming from The Dallas Star Telegram's Nick Harris, who reports that the Eagles and Dallas Cowboys might be calling about the same player.
"I’m keeping an eye on Patrick Queen at the moment. A handful of teams have called Pittsburgh about a trade here (including the Eagles). Dallas has kept a hand in that mix for this exact scenario, but there are still some things to work through and conversations behind the scenes to be had there."
Eagles might make a trade for linebacker Patrick Queen
Queen has been in the NFL over the last six years, playing the first four with the Baltimore Ravens and the last two with the Steelers. He has racked up 703 tackles, 51 tackles for loss, 43 quarterback hits, 26 pass deflections, 15.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles, eight fumble recoveries, and four interceptions in 101 games.
The resume of Queen is impressive as he has been selected to two Pro Bowls and has only missed one game in his NFL career. He's about as reliable a starter as it gets.
Philly is deep at linebacker, though, with Zack Baun, Jihaad Campbell, and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. as the top guys. Queen may not be needed, but he would no doubt help the unit out.
The real question is what kind of trade compensation would have to be involved in a trade like that. If Roseman had his way, a Day 3 pick would be ideal.
