Even with the Philadelphia Eagles just a few days away from competing in Super Bowl 59, Howie Roseman and the rest of the front office are hard at work trying to ensure that Philly will have enough star power to make it back to the Super Bowl for the third time in four seasons next year/
Roseman could all but solidify his team's status as the best roster in the league if he is somehow able to acquire Myles Garrett via trade. The Cleveland Browns star has requested a trade, eyeing a spot where he can compete for a Super Bowl after wasting away in northeast Ohio.
With the Eagles in as wide-open a Super Bowl window as humanly possible, they will likely be considered a prime suitor for Garrett's services. Roseman was poked and prodded about trying to possibly nab Garrett via trade, but he is keeping things radio silent.
Roseman was asked at Super Bowl media availability about his thoughts on Garrett as a player, but he wisely decided to bat that question down. He did give the reporter credit for trying to get an answer out of him.
Eagles GM Howie Roseman has funny comment on Myles Garrett trade speculation
Garrett, who has made six Pro Bowls and earned four First-Team All-Pro nods in his career, is just one year removed from winning Defensive Player of the Year. With 102 sacks in eight seasons, Garrett may still be the best defensive player in the game in terms of overall impact.
While the Eagles would need to hypothetically overcome some big financial obstacles and give away many of their top draft picks to meet the asking price for Garrett, the pass rush could use one more big name to take them from a good unit to one of the best in all of football.
Josh Sweat is a free agent, Nolan Smith is still coming into his own, Brandon Graham's days are almost numbered, and Bryce Huff was one of Roseman's biggest free agency mistakes ever. There is a need for an edge rusher, especially if Sweat is not retained.
While Roseman is clearly not going to tip his hand and comment on a player currently on another team like Garrett, he will assuredly be at the front of the line trying to bang down Andrew Berry's door and bring the future Hall of Fame pass rusher to a spot where he can compete for championships.
